Hi David,

you have been extremely helpful. I think I can implement full support for
titles now, however, one detail still escapes me.

I have the european model, but I manipulated the EEPROM to allow entering
half-width katakana. I set a normal title ("ABCD") and an extended title
("To" in ShiftJIS encoding). However, my remote only displays ABCD, and the
command to retrieve the character code returns "ff" and not "03" on that
disk.

So, I still have a couple of questions. First, what type of remote do you
have? I have an RM-MC10L. The other question is where are our players
different. If you put in a disc with no extended titles (one that returns
"ff" rather than "03") and then set an extended title manuall, not with
OpenMG Jukebox, the following way:

00 18 07 02 20 18 01 00 01 30 00 0a 00 50 00 00 04 00 00 00 00 82 73 82 8f

(this is "To"), does this work for you? Do you see the extended title "To"
in the remote, and does the get character code command return "03"? Or do
you need some more activation of the extended titles? If it doesn't work,
can you send me an USB log which contains such a conversion of a normal disc
to an extended disc (it would be nice if the log only contains that, and not
a lot of other stuff I have to wade through to find it). Or maybe you can
find something in the logs yourself.

If no further activation is necessary, then the japanese model differs
significantly from the european model. Maybe there is another EEPROM
setting that is different. Are you brave enough to dump out all eeproms in
test mode? I could do the same and then we could compare the eeprom byte by
byte to see if there is a difference. (getting the eeprom settings is not
dangerous, only pressing the wrong buttons in test mode is).

Is there a TOC edit mode? :) I think that this might be a good
interpretation of the embracing commands, yes. Well, I don't know, but the
logs will tell, so will the test above, which I already did on my player.
Also, you can probe for a command with "02 18 ...", if that returns 0c, the
command is supported.

Thanks,
Marcus
