Hello,

It seems no one is adventuring Siren under windows arround here ;)

I've got some time to advance on my problems, and I've solved all of the
external interfaces, it was a good thing since I now understand a little
more what are and how to create my own makefiles to compile c dll under
win32.

I will package everything needed with a specific makefile as soon as I'll
have tested with success the various features of the external interfaces
inside VisualWorks with my setup.

So here is what I've done:
-start a clean image in vw7.2
-load the parcels DLLCC and ComponentText
-I've tried to load Siren7.2a.pcl but I got an error occuring, when I ent=
er
in the debugger here is what I got in the callstack:
UndefinedObject(Object)>>nonIntegerIndexError:
UndefunedObject(Object)>>at:
Siren.LibSndFileInterface class>>const:
Siren.SoundFile class>>initialize
Siren.SoundFile class(ClassDescription)>>postLoad:
optimized [] in CodeComponent>>runClassPostLoadMethods
...
If I look at Siren.LibSndeFileInterface class>>const:
SF_Constants evaluate to 'nil'
flag evaluate to '#LSF_FORMAT_WAV'
So the bug occurs because SF_Constants class variable is not initialized
when I load the parcel. Is this normal?

To workarround this bug I've simply done that:
[Siren.LibSndFileInterface initialize.] "Do it"
and relaunch the execution at the mentionned point.

I've now an image that contain the whole Siren namespace, so I've mapped
each Siren's ExternalInterface subclasses to a directory that contain all
the .h .lib and .dll needed by dllcc, I've done that with the dllcc gui.

I've also 'filed in' the MusicConstants.st file with success.

For now I've two problems with portaudio_lite and portmidi_lite siren
interfaces.
1.) portaudio_lite
Here is what I do in the workspace:
[Siren.SirenUtility initialize.
Siren.PortAudioInterface initialize.
Siren.PortAudioInterface example1.] "Do it"

Here is what the application answer before crashing (when I click on OK)
Workspace: visual.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x02aa0cc6" referenced memory at "0x00000008". The
memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program

2.) portmidi_lite
The problem here is very similar
Here is what I do in the workspace:
[Siren.SirenUtility initialize.
Siren.PortMidiInterface initialize.
Siren.PortMidiInterface example1.] "Do it"

I got PM_init returned: 0 in the Transcript.

Here is what the application answer before crashing (when I click on OK)
The instruction at "0x029ab108" referenced memory at "0x0000001c". The
memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program

I've also tested LibSndFileInterface but I got stuck with an "Unhandled
exception: Could not load library", but I think I've to solve the 2 previ=
ous
issues before going further with this one.

So my questions are:
what are the possible reasons that make vw crash when using theses extern=
al
interfaces?
How can I avoid them to crash vw?

Thanks for your support.

Gauthier
