Since several years I use a solution which should be finally ported to the recent SoX version as a separate program but I lack time to do it. My current solution is a patch to run SoX full screen, interactively, with ability to modify speed and volume and jump through the recording easily with simple key-strokes. Other interactive modifications could be added easily in the code. Not many formats are seekable in this version, I use WAV.
