Fantastic, yes I can confirm this. Thank you so much. Halving that value halves the file size. 

Naturally, it introduces a little noise but nothing of concern in my usage (purely vocals).

> At least in my setup the file size seems to be very much proportional to -a value. e.g. 16754->8300 results in roughly halved file size. -a 1 results in file size of only 29 bytes! I dont know if this qualifies as "the best way to do it".
