Self-introduction and my first question ... which programming language sox is written in

I write my posts in the debian forums and ML as bkpsusmitaa and in the
Knoppix and some other forums as rajibando.

Continuing with my question ...
Is sox written in c? Can python modules be made to use sox as a
background tool for audio processing?
