MacOS with sox_ng 14.7.0.1 installed via Brew:

$ play -n synth 1 pink vol .1 channels 2 remix 1 1v.3 oops
play FAIL oops: this effect takes no parameters

(That chain should produce a quiet pinknoise because one channel is louder than the other, so they won't cancel fully.)
