I am a new user. Following the quick start guide I failed to "after 10 seconds
see your name and email address appear as well." ( Like most of the world, I
access via NAT so guessed that might be the problem, although very
surprisingly there was no mention of it, UDP, or firewall requirements in the
user guide. We are expecting a lot of a typical user if we expect them to find
this sort of stuff in archive back copies! ) What happened next was bizare:
When I clicked on "Help - Local Loopback" BOTH the local window and the
previously faulty echo server window appeared to be working. When I closed the
local loopback window the echo server window stopped working again.

After several minutes of similar experimentation, all internet traffic for all
machines in my house stopped until I exited Speak Freely. (We share a NAT
router.)

Thanks for a facinating program, I look forwards to reading the source. I hope
this "newbie" feedback is useful and taken in the cooperative spirit in which
it was written.
