A sample rate of 44.1kHz won't benefit your voice quality,
and is actually going to be almost detrimental.
We now know that significant speech data resides
above standard "telephony bandwidth", i.e. 350Hz - 4.5kHz,
and that 250Hz - 8kHz is optimal; ergo a sampling rate of 16kHz will
handle up to about 6.7-6.8kHz which should be more than
adequate for very high quality telephony uses.
Optimally, your best sampling rate is 22kHz, of course, to
be sure you capture the entire 200Hz - 8kHz but unnecessary.
Sampling at 44.1 will only cause problems with compression codecs,
as you'll be handing the algorithm far more than necessary.
