Hi Johannes,
I have indeed created the project entry for Speak Freely at Sourceforge as a
first step towards continuing Speak Freely.
General Aim and Plan:-
- As John has said ( and most ppl agree ) that mainintaining two code bases is
redundant and developing a GUI for unix parallelly is a repeated effort ..not
scalable etc. etc. .
- Hence a rewrite is pretty much in order
- My interest is towards having a scalable audio telephony ( potentially video
without sacrificing audio ) cross platform tool utilizing the speak freely AND
other code bases to get the best application which serves the purpose ( mind
you speak freely does it very well but for the aging code base )
- No question of a split as far as possible as that would be a waste of
effort. The best approach would be to accomdate the willing developers ( all
of us ) so we can brainstorm the solution.

I have a few ideas which I'll bounce off in the next post. They are based on a
email discussion I had with John parts of which I think he has already posted
on the forum.
