Next Steps
- I would advise subscribing to the announce mailing list for everybody,
submission of feature requests for people with ideas...
- Please stay on this present list while we are transitioning
- A Testing Mailing List will be setup soon for people who are interested in
helping out via testing

Work in Progress:
- Look at options for maintaining present codebases using the already set up
projects on Sourceforge for the Unix and Windows versions.
- A prelimnary design based on an object oriented model using data pipelines
is being put in place and will be published...It will aim at being backward
compatible and interoperable with existing Speak Freely

Inputs needed on: ( esp. from John W.)
- Maintaining existing code and merging the two code bases..I personally think
that is not very scalable as the code though stable is legacy now..

- Towards Implementation, however the question is: Java vs. C++. C++ will
constrain us often around making audio/networking/byte ordering issues ( which
plague the present version ) for multiple platforms till volunteers offer to
port code or we use as far as possible a toolkit like wxWindows.
Alternatively we use Java for cross-platform flexibility ( optimize it well )
and look at the higher desktop machine configuration required for Java
applications.
From an implementation perspective Java will be indeed easier as it provides
us with the Multimedia tookits for majority platforms...

Any thoughts/links on this would be appreciated.

I will also appreciate a show of hands from potential developers/volunteers on
non-common platforms to find out what support we'd get for migration in case
of a C++ route...
