Bob, I rewrote the most recent SF (windoze) version to add a PTT flag embedded in the normal audio packet stream. This allows a conference reflector to pass PTT flags to all conference members automatically. I also added logic to prevent conference members from "doubling" or talking over the top of someone else. Duplex audio works ok in a 1:1 connection, but it really kills conferences. The only problem with my modifications is that it breaks SF. Non-modified SF clients can't communicate with my modified clients. You are correct in your assessment of the old SF/PTT version. It used a separate UDP socket to exchange "PTT packets" with a single remote client. This will not work in a conference. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Speak Freely Forum" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, October 07, 2003 20:59 Subject: (#489) Re: [speak-freely] (#484) Speakfreely patches > Message posted to the Speak Freely Forum > by Bob on Wed, 8 Oct 2003 05:59:22 +0200 (MEST). > http://www.fourmilab.ch/wb/speak-freely.pl?rev=489 > > Reply To: (#485) Re: [speak-freely] (#484) Speakfreely patches > Author: Thomas Shaddack > Date: 2003-10-07 10:35 > > : (Another interesting extension I could play > : with is a simple control > : interface, possibly a listening UDP socket, > : that could facilitate simple > : interprocess communication - switching > : transmitting on/off > > Speak Freely for Windows v 7.1 was modified for end to end transmit (PTT) > control some years ago and works quite well.
