I should have mentioned that I already use Pfindur to taper over the
problem.
But I wanted to fix the root cause instead of adding code to hide it.

I might come up with something based on Emacs.  But that is probably a
not very popular solution.  Sort of sad that we never managed to put a
toolkit agnostic widget abstraction in place, but I sort of understand
that is out of scope for SC.
