I've created a quark called Panola (stands for pattern notation language) to solve some of the problems you face. A tutorial and installation instructions appear on sccode.org: http://sccode.org/1-5aq It introduces a lilypond-like syntax that allows specifying patterns using a kind of text-based music notation. You can then either take the notation as-is and convert it to a pattern or you can extract from it separate properties, like pitches, volumes, durations, legato and staccato, etc. Extracting such properties can also be useful to use a starting point e.g. for calculating algorithmic variations. The text based notation has some provisions for animating properties over time (e.g. animating volume to create a crescendo/decrescendo). Maybe useful? Best regards, Stefaan. _______________________________________________ sc-users mailing list info (subscription, etc.): http://www.birmingham.ac.uk/facilities/ea-studios/research/supercollider/mailinglist.aspx archive: http://www.listarc.bham.ac.uk/marchives/sc-users/ search: http://www.listarc.bham.ac.uk/lists/sc-users/search/
