Could you add either an option pane changing the layout or
even just a menu entry for the most common ones.

Excellent!   This is highly desired feature.   Crashes if directory
does not exist though (I made a typo on the first try).

I have a heavily hacked local archive that is no where near ready 
for public view.. 

I have also been thinking about restructuring the musicdb so that 
it use plugins for the metadata sources (it kinda fixed right now).
