Nice idea.. However, I think this could be done using recursive 
playlists.

The current random mode is supposed to play each track only
once. 

For example:

#Myfavorites.m3u
file://song1.ogg
...
file//songN.ogg
# End Myfavorites.m3u

# EverySong.m3u
file://home/music/
#end EverySong.m3u


#Player playerlist
file://MyFavorites.m3u
file://EverySong.m3u

Tag the player playlist as sequential and the sublists as random..
After playing the first playlist, the player would choose 
the second.   One thing to notice is that we will have to decide what
a directory expansion means and whether the random play is deep
on directories.  

You might also like to see what edna[1] does for recursive directories.
