I would like to declare my candidacy for zinf project lead developer. I have used zinf/freeamp daily for about three years and have been developing for zinf for the past year. My primary user goals for zinf are to provide a stable and useful player for personal music collections. My design goals are to provide a versatile music player with advanced metadata(tag) handling capabilities based around an architecture of minimal sharing. To that end, I have recently revamped vorbis tag support and am currently integrating an advanced layered database model into the current zinf code base. My other contribution are: released two versions of zinf over the last 4 months (versions 2.2.2 and 2.2.3), added international support to many areas (still ongoing), Drag and drop between playlists, many small bug fixes for linux. I am committed to keeping zinf a multi-platform player and in the future would like see the main player and UI be completely multi-platform using a shared codebase. I would push zinf to cooperate with the major platforms in use (linux, solaris, win32, macintosh). Currently zinf has a strong following and widely used in both the linux and win32 worlds. I would encourage developers to work on improving the core player and continue to work on improving its playing and music handling capabilities. I believe that by being project lead I can do more to help zinf. Providing direction, coding support and reachable goals are important in any project. Fostering cooperation and technical consensus as well are especially important in an opensource project. Zinf needs leadership more than ever. Thanks -- Kristian G.
