The xmms-lib is a library to access xmms functionalities over tcp/ip. You can: get the current playlist start stop pause, forward, ... get current time and id3 tags of the current song. The library is quite small and could be re-used from the xmms source code (but is in C and not C++) There is a Perl.mod for accessing this.
