This is good news!
   
This should probably go in main once
2.2.4 has gone out.   I/we/People have
been clamoring for gtk2 version for a while.

Unless I hear something is radically wrong
I'll prepare the 2.2.4 release next weekend.
After that you should commit your patches to 
main and we'll start with that.

Then your patches should go straight in and
we can try for short release cycle for gtk2
release.  Nice.
