yeah, I spotted that, but my brother-in-law came around, and he needed the
computer to write his dissertation on.

Ok, this is the opposite bug that is in the preference window tree
control. Basically when you connect to the "button-press-event" signal, if
you use gtk_signal_connect_after, then you only seem to get the event when
a click occurs in an area of the control without any tree in it. on the
otherhand, if you use gtk_signal_connect, the double clicking starts to
work, but you can no longer manipulate the control with the mouse.

hmm, I will check what I actually did, but I was under the impression that
the pixbuf stuff was now a standard part of gdk, so didn't need to be
explicitly checked for. but I better check.
