Can't install packages (Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron)

I got problems installing packages:

jhasse@gutsy:~/Desktop$ package install Autopackage\ Development\
Environment\ 1.2.4-2.package

It needs , you have i686. Try checking where you got this package to
see if there is a compatible version.

If not, try asking the software maintainer if they would be willing to
produce a package for your architecture, or alternatively you may be
able to compile from source.

I am using 2.6.22-14-generic kernel and Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron (alpha). Do
you have any ideas?
