The idea of an AutoPortage platform is good, but I don't think it's
something we have the manpower to create. IMHO it's better to spend time on
improving autopackage itself, because some of the objections brought up by
upstream projects are true.

When we want upstream projects to distribute Autopackages they must be
bullet-proof. People must say: "I rather install an autopackage, because it
doesn't break the system so often as .debs"

The way to spread Autopackage is to finish the Firefox Autopackage and the
OpenOffice one. I've read the bug reports in both projects and I don't think
they would decline a good patch if we sent it in.

Firefox and OpenOffice are two projects every user knows and probably
everyone hears news from new versions. If they both provide an Autopackage,
that will boost the publicity of autopackage so enormous, that an
AutoPortage platform will be obvious, since every developer wants to create
a shiny autopackage himself then.
