Hmm, wrong move...

After writing the message that I could not install the developer
autopackage, I then downloaded the ".tar.bz2" file (for the developer
package) and installed that. Then I rebuilt my package. Now my package would
not run either. Launching the file creates a (temporary) directory with the
name autopackage.nnn (where nnn is a large number), and then it stops. No
errors or warning messages (that my be my fault too, maybe I should have put
those warning messages in the apspec file myself; it has been a while since
I wrote the apspec file).

I suspect that this is the same error.

I tried on a freshly installed Ubuntu machine too (or nearly fresh, it is
only a few months old, little software has been installed on it, and no
version of Autopackage or support tools have ever been installed on it).
Same problem.

I tried to install 1.4.0 too, but I have no gotten very far with it. I am
now back at 1.2.4, which works well for me.

As an aside (it just pops into my mind), I always install packages as
described in http://www.autopackage.org/docs/howto-install/. That is, I run
the package with "bash xyz.package". I do not use "package install
xyz.package". I have not tested whether that works. Even if that is the
error, there is still a problem: the instructions on
http://www.autopackage.org/docs/howto-install/ are then wrong.
