I do think that Curtis used it for our packages, although I'm not sure to what extent. So there's really no crucial need to replace it for the purpose of fixing a regression. Although the features it was supposed to provide (or does provide?) would be nice to have though, so it might be worth doing if someone has the energy to do it.
