It is possible to update the catalog database according to config 
changes, but I propose to be very careful there, i.e. do a backup first, 
make sure no jobs run, change the config and the catalog, try the 
results and only if everything looks good enable backups to run again.

Overall, not particularly tricky or risky, but if you have large sets of 
media and no good way to group them for bulk updates, the catalog 
changes can cause a bit of anxiety :-)
