Well, I actuall did check the Regback directory. Not using Explorer and
some settings but just a plain attrib command in a cmd window:

C:\Windows\System32\config>attrib BBI.*
A C:\Windows\System32\config\BBI
A SH C:\Windows\System32\config\BBI.LOG1
A SH C:\Windows\System32\config\BBI.LOG2

C:\Windows\System32\config>cd RegBack

C:\Windows\System32\config\RegBack>attrib
Datei C:\Windows\System32\config\RegBack\*.* nicht gefunden

so I would claim that, on my system, there's really nothing in the
directory I would consider a prime candidate to contain registry-related
backup data.

I think text user interfaces are much more useful when discussing and
reproducing problems, actually ;-)

But I *do* miss the option to

C:\Windows\System32\config\RegBack>LANG=C attrib
Der Befehl "LANG" ist entweder falsch geschrieben oder
konnte nicht gefunden werden.

on Windows :-)

Cheers,

Arno
