LTO-9 is really tricky when it comes to environmental conditions... all
the vendors I know of do not offer that technology as stand-alone drives
for exactly that reason -- they prefer their drives in controlled
environments in data center racks.

Good luck. As far as I can predict, IBM will not offer support for that
drive, but you will have to try to find out.

I know at least one tape library vendor who's willing to help migrating
from Tandberg to their own stuff, including installing and supporting
existing drives, but that requires a library around it -- they actually
do have a contract with IBM that allows them to change OEM firmware of
existing drives.

Those guys *might* be able to help with your case if you set up with one
of their libraries, but my gut feeling is that this will still be more
expensive than just finding the cheapest single drive LTO-9 library.

I would be very interested to know what other options you find.

And good luck!
