A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, I wrote a very long and very retailed How-To about using Bacula with removable 
eSATA drives with full LUKs encryption, along with udev, autofs, and Josh Fisher's awesome vchanger tool.

It was served from my company website, but that no longer exists.
