Hello,

When I reboot with the laptop lid closed and an external monitor (TCL
43s435 43") connected, the screen for GNU GRUB ver 2.06 has its
horizontal alignment off to the left enough so that the first line is
completely blank and what should read

Advanced options for Linux Mint 21.2 Cinnamon

for the second line looks like

: Mint 21.2 Cinnamon

where there just enough pixels in the x in Linux to make it look like a
colon.

The third line looks like

'dev/sda1

and so on.Once it boots to Linux or Windows, the alignment is perfect.
If the laptop lid is up during boot, the GNU GRUB screen is perfectly
aligned on the laptop's screen.  This is just when the the laptop lid is
closed and GNU GRUB is using the external monitor.

I'm not looking for a solution.   I just thought you might want to be
made aware of this issue.  Info for my laptop and, especially, the
graphics card follows...

Thank you so very much for your work, John Emig, Arcata California
