Follow-up Comment #2, bug #60914 (group grub):
Apologies — just checked, and `auto` _doesn't_ equate to my native
resolution on my desktop display, but does on my laptop. I still have to
hardcode `GRUB_GFXMODE=2560x1440` on the PC, which I presume is a deliberate
choice by RedHat to attempt to remediate what `#comment0` describes (albeit
poorly, since it doesn't apply to the higher-resolution laptop display). The
rest still stands, of course.
