Yeah, I'm not sure this is necessary. If not applying it results in 
later imports conflicting due to different git context for example, then 
that's fine. Otherwise I don't think it brings anything. Here, I don't 
think the watchdog is in the git context for USB so it could have been 
ignored without any issue.
