get-point-on-shape

Hiya People,

I have another problem; get-point-on-shape, and was wondering if anyone can help.

The documentation for this method states quite clearly that it is experimental, so I understand I'm going to have problems - which I am.

The method seems to fail occasionally and return (0,0,0) even for a well initialised Shape. I can't work out what the failure conditions are; it seems to be fine for one shape and fails for a very similar shape. 

Is there a either a pool of experience with using this method, any tips and tricks, or a known work around?

In the absence of either I will make method to accomplish the same task; has anyone any tips on an efficient algorithm for this?
