5.0 Branch

Greetings,

   This morning I have created the new 5.0 branch in Git so that we can start the process
of releasing our next major release. It has been a long time in coming and seems even closer
now :)

  For a list of actual blocker bugs still needing to be committed:

If you see any that need patches or testing, feel free to jump in and give a hand.

  Also before the first RC, we are planning to fix the remaining test case in Travis CI that
was disabled recently. The checksetup.pl upgrade test. We will be working on that in the next
few days. Once that test refactoring is complete and the 5.0 code is passing, we will create
the first RC.

  NOTE: Make sure any issues found in the 5.0 code that are fixed and committed happen in
both the 5.0 branch and master.
