The thought occurred to me as well (a few years ago).
Personally I went a different path than "getting things done" after trying it 
and reading more about its downsides. I agree that it should be possible
with roundup. Many years ago, I thought I could create a roundup based
tracker that tracks other software trackers (the master thesis of Torsten, 
still in the archives). However this was not fully successful, so I guess 
doing a really good gtd profile will be a lot of work.
