I just got a "confirm your subscription" message message from sourceforge. The URL had 'mailman' in it, but I've never received this kind of thing before from a mailman list. When I went to the URL it had checkboxes checked for two of sourceforge mailing lists (but not roundup-dev), and two checkboxes unchecked for advertising from sourceforge. Then it had a last checkbox that said that I agreed to receive email from sourceforge.net. That sounds like an agreement for them to spam me, whether it is one or not, but I can't submit the form to confirm my subscription without checking that box. Regardless of that, I have decided that I am *not* going to subscribe to a mailing list where I have to reconfirm my subscription periodically; it's too much trouble for a list I rarely participate in (but do read). The original message said my subscription would be deleted on June 29th if I didn't confirm, so I'll be off this list after June 29th. If the moderators are interested, I'm sure that python.org would be happy to host the roundup lists, all you have to do is email [email protected] and ask, and then transfer the membership list. (If they do hesitate for some reason, contact me and I'll convince them :) --David ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Check out the vibrant tech community on one of the world's most engaging tech sites, Slashdot.org! http://sdm.link/slashdot
