Actually, when it's my work computer, I connect to the VPN. Then I feel safe logging into my personal email account. yes, that is the standard fix, and VPNs to home networks are relatively common/easy to set up (i say that knowing full well how much of a lie that can be, i kinda hate technology :-) since home modems tend to have it as a feature in their settings.
