* Popoon - A XML Publishing Framework for PHP (Language: German)

* Step into the future - Webapplications using PHP and XML databases
(Language: English)
Duration: 6 hours

Software solutions nowadays are strongly based on XML technologies. While
momentarily most of the data is stored in RDBMS, in future there will be a
new answer to this: XML databases.

You will learn the differences between XML databases and RDBMS, which
languages are needed to work with these databases and how to access your XML
databases via PHP.

Target group of this workshop are people who have not worked with XML
databases yet and would like to learn more about the opportunities and
differences to RDBMS. Strong XML skills, how to access XML databases and use
XML data in PHP are not required and will be covered.

Part of the workshop will be a small sample application which shows how
things work in practice. For all examples we will use two databases:

    * commerical "Tamino" by Software AG
* open source "Xindice" by the ASF
