An added comment: I just discivered that there seems to be (at least  
in the latest trunk version) some kind of mechanism which wraps the  
submenu inside an <li style="list-style: none"></li> if one hasn't  
done it oneself in the XSL-code as I suggested (below). This is nice  
since it causes it to validate correctly, however I personally don't  
like inline CSS and therefore prefer to insert the <li> tags  
volontarily into the XSL-code... ;-) And it also feels better not to  
rely on some kind of error correction mechanism...
