Me too, but it works now...

I don't know, what exactly I changed back then, but I have

'--with-iconv=/sw/'

in my configure line. Maybe that was it :)

and phpinfo() tells me:

iconv
iconv support => enabled
iconv implementation => libiconv
iconv library version => 1.10

This is with php 5.1.2-dev (I had the problems months ago, so I doubt
that there's a difference between 5.1.1 and 5.1.2-dev)
