extending options to admin interface (dbform)

Hi,

in http://docs.flux-cms.org/en/administrator/siteoptions/ is mentioned
just to 
add another option with this.

> Choose "options (dbform)" from the drop down, there

But in my Installation from SVN 1.6-dev/9.9.27 there no drop down occurs.

I need to extend each collection or resources with additional fields, e.g.
author, co-author, etc.

a. How can this be implemented
b. Can you give me please an XSL snippet how to get the contents of these
   fields 
   e.g. <xsl:value-of select="$collectionURI/$co-author" />
