error while "create file" (image)

Hi,

I created a collection and a sub-collection (as gallery)

I edited the .configxml of the gallery-collection and uncommented the 
virtualDir-parameter and set the parameter value to "coll./sub-coll./"

After that I tried to upload a image this error was shown up

Fatal error: Call to undefined function exif_read_data() in 
/home/dima/public_html/bxcms/inc/bx/indexer/image/jpeg.php on line 11


It seams I have not installed the exif-extension for php ;)


After uploading the image and reloading the navigation-tree the image 
was shown in the tree. When i click to the image in the right frame 
"edit image..." opens. Then name of the image will be shown and also the 
correct resolution of the image, but the image itself won't be shown :(


I looked in via putty and had a look to "bxcms/data/<coll>/<sub-coll>/" 
and there is no image.


When I do the same in "files/images/" the same error will shown, but the 
image is anyway shown when "editing image" and I also see this image in 
putty.

Thats a bit mystic ;) When uploading image for a gallery it does'nt work 
but for "files/images/".


Ok, how we can solve the problem. The "easiest way" is to add "exif" to 
php... but it's not easy for me. I'm not really familiar with linux. I 
know there is some possibility to add extension to a installed php.


Can anybody tell me how to add a extension to php?

Or has anybody a other idea to solve the problem.
