That's what the people expect... We can't live from the techies alone,
neither as an open source community nor as a business. We have to appeal
the larger masses. And one way to do this is with a "nicer" design. And
we carefully didn't choose Colorful-XP-Style Buttons to actually not
make it look live every other CMS.

With "appealing the masses" it's not our goal to have hundreds of
developers or thousands of users (it would be nice, though :) ), but one
of the main complaints about Flux CMS was, as mentioned, that it looked
too techie, was too complicated to start with, etc... (from the user
perspective)

If you have any concrete proposal, what could be changed to "make it
different", then we're all ears to hear it :) It's not too late for changes.

It's a firefox problem. This problem doesn't show up on Safari and
Mozilla 1.8b. We will have a look into it nevertheless
