Searching whole site (amongst other things)

Just finished installing BXCMS and would like to know how to do the 
following:

- Include Live search on all pages (including Gallery/Contact/User 
added folders).
- In fact, I would like to be able to replicate the sidebar on the BLOG 
on all pages.
- Include selected static pages and titles of images in the Live 
Search. (Currently I get "Nothing Found (neither in title nor 
fulltext).
- Show only excerpts (Say first 50 words followed by a  'Read More' 
link to the full entry) in the BLOG.
- Remove del.icio.us and Supported By links from the sidebar on the 
BLOG (Been trying but get many errors).
- Include a link list to the latest static pages and have it appear on 
the sidebar of all pages (much in the same way "Latest Blog Posts" is 
found on most pages).

Incidentally, I've successfully added a collection with a static page 
but would like to have it included in searches and would also like to 
have the Live Search on that same static page.

Sorry about these novice questions (first experience with 
XSLT/XML/BXCMS), it is just that I can't seem to find much in the way 
of help in the Documentation or Wiki and thought it might be quicker if 
I just asked someone. I will continue to plod along nonetheless.

If anyone can show me where to get started on these it would be much 
appreciated.
