Description
Topic maps have been touted as the "equivalent of the traditional
back-of-the-book index" for the world of electronic information and the "GPS
of the Web". A prominent vendor of topic map solutions claims that they
promise to "revolutionize the ways in which we search for and navigate
information". How do we separate the truth from the hype?

Much is made about the ability of topic maps to integrate information and
automate merging of diverse sources. How is this applicable in complex
business information environments? Essentially, what are topic maps and how
can they be used today?

This session will present:

*	Key concepts of topic maps
*	Basics of the XTM markup language
*	How topic maps can be used (knowledge mapping, resource discovery,
etc.)
*	How topic maps are different from or similar to existing knowledge
representation models
*	A case study of topic maps in application

Join us June 28th, 2:00PM EDT to learn more!
