I agree for some sites. The original discussion was about the ASP model of
hosted applications and the benefits. One big benefit of publishing static
pages is that the public webserver can be lightweight and the site can be
hosted anywhere. At one large Ivy League college near me, there's no way
you would be allowed to install a CMS on the public webserver - auto-ftp
is the only option for customers like this.
