Hi Alan,

I'm quite surprised that you haven't found any vendor providing integrated Windows authentication since it's quite easy to implement it. I believe that vendors could offer you some workaround. For example in ASP.NET, if the vendor uses the standard authentication mechanism, it's just a question of simple configuration. Maybe you could also try to look for "NTLM authentication" which is basicaly the Windows domain authentication. 

Some vendors also provide pluggable authentication modules that you could possibly customize for integrated Windows authentication. You can find some of them at http://www.cmsmatrix.org .

If that's an intranet, did you consider Windows Sharepoint Services that are available for free in Windows Server 2003? It supports the integrated authentication and from my point of view it also provides a good base for building the intranets. 

If you're working on the ASP.NET platform, there are also free intranet applications, such as IBuySpy Portal (http://www.asp.net/Default.aspx?tabindex=7&tabid=41) that can be configured for Windows authentication and it also supports access control mechanisms for particular areas of the intranet.

  Yes, that is exactly what I mean.  Here is the problem in a nutshell.  We are building an intranet and need for certain pages to be restricted to certain groups... (i.e. a section just for HR employees or Finance employess, etc).  However, we do not... actually to be perfectly honest, I am not even allowed to have the option of making people login to the Intranet web site while they are within our network.  These are the restrictions that I have been givien.They have to be able to be automatically logged in by virtue of being logged into the Domain. 

  This is possible with IIS integrated windows authentication.  If I use this IIS authentication schema, when a person logs into a Domain computer and then opens the Intranet, they won't have to log on again.  The logon is passed through (they would have to logon outside of our network however, but no one cares about that).  So this means that any content management system I use HAS to be able to process an IIS login.  

  I don't care if I have to manually add users or groups to the CMS itself in order ot make the authorization work.  All I care is that the authentication can be passed through from IIS.  So that when a user logs on via the IIS directory securty login, the CMS picks that up and says "Hey, this user has logged in" and then automatically logs the user into the CMS.

  I have had almost no luck finding anything like this.

    what exactly do you mean by IIS directory security? Do you need a single sign on solution so that users don't have to provide their credentials again after they sign in to the Windows domain?

      We are looking for a CMS that allows us to authenticate our end users (and possibly our backend users, though not as important) using IIS built in Directory security. That way we can use the Integrated windows authentication.

      I have had a very difficult time finding a CMS that will do this.  I have seen a few that allow active directory integration, but do not use the IIS directory security to implement it.  I need to be able to use the IIS directory security even if it is just to pass it through to the built in security feature.  It is the one thing I am required to find in a product, almost everything else is optional.

      Any suggestions?
