There's beta and then there's beta. And then most recently with htmlArea
there's RC1:

We implemented htmlArea as an alternative editor for non-Windows users
soon after the first beta release. We found it so stable, feature rich and
extensible we switched to htmlArea as the default editor for all users a
few months back. The plugin architecture has held particular appeal for
us:
