Hi

I think you should take a look at the pure .NET CMS Sitecore
(www.sitecore.net) - it is fully XML based and with full flexibility.
Templates (that is - the rendering/presentation layer) are XSLT based. 

Sitecore furthermore support various back-end data storages such as native
XML file, Software AG Tamino AML server, MS SQL, MySQL and more
