:) certainly. i don't think the peer model of software production [1] is 
the be-all end-all. for some applications with lots of innovative code 
(color calibration was recently mentioned) oss would not provide the ROI 
for the author. that said, most software is not innovative at all.

i buy closed source systems where it makes sense. for instance, the 
excellent mindmanager 2003.
