Hi Everyone,

We are developing a control for Web based CMS called Heartbeat. This control runs in a browser and pulses (sends HTTP requests) to a given URL at a given interval so that the session does not timeout. Besides keeping the user logged-in into a CMS while they go for lunch, it will also be possible to determine if a user closed their browser without logging out. A CMS that does document locking/unlocking and provides a listing of users who are currently online can benefit from knowing more accurately when a user finished using the CMS.

We have been using a variation of this technique for several years with a pulse interval of 60 seconds and it works quite well.

If anyone has any feature requests, wants to beta test the control or has a better approach to determining when a user closes their browser, we'd like to know.

Regards,
-Vlad
