XML Only CMS?

We have a system for translating XML into webpages we
are very happy with 
(basically: php/sablotron) and XSLT and CSS for
handling the layout. We need a system handling the
content in a easy and straight forward way. Currently
the editors have to edit the xml files directly in our
versioning system using some kind of text editor. 
Xml errors and unconfirmed content are a problem. In
addition many of the editor send us webmasters the
text which we need to insert manually - which 
is a very boring job.

We need a CMS system to handle our xml files only.

The system would need to have workflow processing,
validation by XML schema 
and version control.

Nice-to-have would be some sort of wysiwyg or at least
preview, templates/forms etc.

Do any of you have any recommendations?
We are looking into both open-source systems as well
as commerical systems.
